Well, today is the day . . . yep, January 14, 2009. Well, I guess I THOUGHT January 1, 2009 would be the day, but the first came and went, then the second, the third and so on; I kept saying “I’ll start tomorrow” until finally it hit me, “Jessica, you are 43, not getting ANY younger and do you really want to have to suck in your gut and poof out your chest when you take a check in the mirror to convince yourself that you look okay?” So I find myself on January 14th deciding to make a change. I’ve tried Weight Watchers, LA Weight Loss, Atkins, and many others. What I haven’t tried is the good old fashioned advice of healthy eating coupled with exercise; losing weight naturally . . . sounds easy right? Well, for me, it is that extra dessert, that extra glass of wine, the handful of chips that turn into a bowl of chips and then of course I have to get the dip! Yeah, I can lose 10lbs pretty easy, but my goal is 25lbs and an even more aggressive goal is THIS time to KEEP IT OFF. I want my behaviors to change, I want to continue to love food and enjoy what I eat, but I want to be at a more healthy weight and yes, ultimately I want to look GOOD! Let’s face it, clothes are soooo much cuter in a size 6/8!!!
So I’ve come up with my own personal motivators that I want to come back to and read when I need that extra boost of encouragement!
- Isn’t it nice when you get undressed and you DON’T have marks from your waistband imprinted on your body!
- Legs look so much better when they are smooth vs. all those fatty bumps that come with the late night Snickers!
- At 43 in a society where 40 is suppose to be the new 20 . . . what 20 year old looks like me????!!!!! NOT!
- I really want to put on a pair of knee high boots and have them zip up without having to squeeze my legs in!
- Can you say back fat? It has to go!
- I don’t need to be the thinnest girl in the room, the prettiest or the smartest, but I do want to have the confidence that I look healthy and happy.
- The stair climb that I have scheduled for Feb. 21 . . . I want to finish in a respectable time frame!
- I want to do a triathlon before I am 45. (This year would be good!)
- I am a person that takes on anything in life with zest and ALWAYS reach my goal EXCEPT weight . . . why?
- Jessica . . . YOU CAN DO THIS!
So my mini goal of this week is to change my snacking habits from the chocolate, chips and soda to granola, veggies and water.
