So this blog is coming in a little late…I didn’t get home from the celebrations of May 31st until, well, June 1st. But I did want to dedicate one blog to a major change in my life, my 25th birthday. The weather was beautiful, not too hot, nor too cold, sunny, with partial cloud cover. An overall beautiful day. I missed the morning due to sleeping past noon, never made it to the Gilmore Car Collection in Plainwell, as was the original plan. I was a bit grouchy when I arose, the house was a pig sty and my boyfriend was coming in empty handed in the gift department.
It is not all of his fault, I would have been grouchy if the house was sparkling and I had a bouquet of flowers in the kitchen, albeit not as grouchy, but still in a testy mood. I have never been a big fan of my own birthday, I love to celebrate others but not my own. I always expect it to be a great day where I am made to feel special, and usually end up disappointed. I didn’t throw a party for myself (that is the only way it would have happened) and we got up too late to do the museum (long drive). We did go to Melting Pot for my birthday dinner the night before (actually a pretty healthy meal) so we didn’t really have any plans. My boyfriend ended up taking me to Guitar Center and bought me my very first guitar! I used to play in middle school, but we never had enough money in my family for my brother or I to play instruments, however, I am a natural. It is my dream to play guitar again, because it satisfies my soul to make beautiful music.
The day progressed and on our way home, a friend texted me and invited my boyfriend and I over for dinner with her and her husband. She knows that I am on a healthy eating diet and they made us such a delicious healthy meal. They grilled barbecue chicken, stuffed mushrooms (the decadent part of the meal), a fresh chopped salad with a vinaigrette dressing, grilled red skin potatoes with dill and my favorite, steamed Brussels sprouts. After dinner we headed home to my friend’s son’s graduation party down the street from us. It was a great way to end my birth day because I was laughing with friends and it felt awesome to be enjoying their company and myself so much.
The bright news for May 31st? I finally hit 150.0 pounds! Not under 150 like I had hoped, but close enough for me!
