It’s easy to build up the idea of dieting in your mind until it consumes you totally. But making dieting easy and simple and be so rewarding. Here are some tips to keep in mind as you start your diet.
Control What You Eat
Be conscious of the food choices you make. You are the only one responsible for what goes into your mouth. If you make a habit of making excuses, you’ll never get anywhere.
Eat Slowly
After each bite, set your fork down. Chew slowly and drink some water. When we eat quickly, we tend to over eat because the food hasn’t had a chance to hit our stomachs, and it takes the brain a while to tell us we’re full. Eating slowly gives our food the chance to settle, and let us know when we’re full.
Stay Hydrated
Drink a glass of water between meals, and frequently throughout the day. Oftentimes thirst can be mistaken for hunger.
Fill Up with Fruits and Vegetables
Consume at least twice as many fruits or vegetables per meal than grains. This way you will still be eating enough food but will be eating good food.
Eat Fiber
Fiber helps to fill you up and keep you full. Fiber can be found in fruits and vegetables, whole grains and beans.
Reduce your Sugar Intake
This is a simple step to quickly and easily start your diet. Reducing sugar will reduce the amount of calories and processed foods you consume. If you crave sweets, try some fresh fruit and yogurt.
Practice Moderation
No food is terrible for you as long as it’s consumed in moderation. If you are having a serious craving, indulge it, but only a little bit. Have a half cup of low fat ice cream instead of a pint.
Exercise
All the dieting in the world will do little good without exercise. A mixture of cardio and weights is the best way to burn calories and keep them off.
Liquid Meal Replacement
If time is of the essence, replacing one meal a day with a liquid meal replacement, or diet shake, has been show to be effective.
Eat Well
Eat foods that you like, savor them and enjoy them.
