5 Steps to Keep Your Kids Healthy and Focused in College

Introduction

This six-part series will focus on our kids keeping healthy and staying focused in college. The individual topics will include getting a good night’s sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, taking a daily vitamin, eating a good, nutritious lunch, and finishing homework before they go out.

Their New Life at College

College will present new challenges for your kids. Some of these challenges include being out on their own for the first time, time-consuming studies, the need for higher thinking, no class alarms as reminders, sharing a room with others, an atmosphere of culture diversity, the application process, financial paperwork, new transportation needs, a world with a new set of rules and regulations, fatigue, being without family, stress, new requirements without weekly or parental reminders, being treated as a young adult for the first time, and more responsibilities.

The Alarming Statistics

A 1998 ACT study reveals that 25% of four-year college students drop out, and only ½ the students graduate within five years at a four-year college. Maybe some of these students simply went to college unprepared. Prepare your kids as much as you can.

Some Helpful Hints Before Your Kids Leave for College

Here are some suggestions to share with your kids before they leave for college.

  1. Maintain a daily planner. This will help your kids be able to schedule classes, special events, and homework due dates. Organization is needed for a successful college experience.
  2. Get a good night’s sleep .
  3. Research. It’s important for your kids to know what courses are needed and start the scheduling process as soon as possible.
  4. Eat a healthy breakfast.
  5. Don’t schedule back-to-back classes. Remind your kids it’s important to have study time before class. They’ll appreciate their decision when finals come.
  6. Take a multi vitamin daily.
  7. Routine will help your kids get in the habit with greater ease. Put aside the needed study time. It’s estimated for every one hour in class, three hours of study time is needed.
  8. Eat a nutritious lunch.
  9. Finish homework early.
  10. Focus. If your kids have trouble focusing, they may need some assistance. These suggestions will help your kids stay healthy and focused in college, but they may also benefit from an all-natural supplement that’s designed to sharpen mental focus safely and effectively.

Increase your focus safely and naturally.
