Is There Anything I Can Do To Prevent Or Postpone The Onset Of FSAD?

Female Sexual Arousal Disorder is an increasingly common disorder for women. Many of those who are experiencing FSAD are in the phase of menopause . Other factors can play a role in arousal and sexual desire disorder in women.

Does Menopause Cause FSAD?

Although menopause can play a part in a decrease in libido in women, it doesn’t do so for everyone. Some women who have entered into menopause say that their sex life is even better than before. Studies show that many women are mentally crippling their libido due to myths about menopausal women and sex (the fact they aren’t supposed to engage in it).

The changes in your body after menopause can have an effect on your libido levels. Symptoms of menopause include not only hot flashes, but vaginal dryness as well. This can make having sexual intercourse either painful or impossible to do.

What Sexual Activity will be affected by Sexual Arousal Disorder?

When you are experiencing a hard time reaching orgasms, raising sexual desire or are having intercourse that is painful, these can be signs of sexual arousal disorder. This condition can affect different aspects of sexual activity such as the following:

  • Masturbation
  • Oral sex
  • Vaginal and anal intercourse
  • Fondling

Without having the usual sexual stimulations as before, you will notice a decrease in sexual desire to engage in any form of sexual activities.

What Causes Lack of Orgasm in Women?

Stress, anxiety and depression can play a role in the lack of orgasms in women. Medical conditions and medications such as antidepressants and antihypertensive drugs can cause this as well. Medical conditions that interfere with blood flow, such as heart disease, diabetes and hypertension can affect the arteries that pump blood to the vagina, which then decreases sensation in that area.

So How can I Prevent FSAD?

There is no sure way to prevent female sexual arousal disorder, but there are some things you can try. Since this condition is caused by lack of blood flow, you should try to accommodate your diet to increase blood flow such as with aphrodisiac foods. They do exist and there are plenty to choose from. There are fruits, nuts, vegetables and grains. You can also do kegel exercises that can strengthen your pelvic floor.

All you have to do is tighten the pelvic floor muscle (as though you are holding back urine mid-stream), then relax. You do the same repeatedly. Studies have shown that kegel exercises help orgasmic experiences, even for women who aren’t going through FSAD. Research also shows that women who masturbate or have intercourse often are not likely to face FSAD.

What if I Already Have FSAD?

You can try using aphrodisiac foods and kegel exercises as well. By exercising your pelvic floor, it will become stronger and increase blood flow. Aphrodisiac foods have been around since the Roman Empire, possibly earlier. Here are some aphrodisiac foods you can try:
