There are hundreds if not thousands of reasons why exercise should be made a part of your daily routine. Research has shown that exercise can add years to the sex life of a man by lowering the overall risk for the development of sexual dysfunctions, including erectile dysfunction due to aging.

Exercise: The Benefits

The following is a list of the most common benefits from exercise. Exercise affects the entire body, positively impacting every system of the body. These benefits range from mood improvements, boosting overall self esteem and confidence, to the prevention or decreased risk for the development of certain conditions.

  • Mood Improvement: Exercise actually stimulates the production of certain chemicals in the body that are cause for improvements in mood. It also promotes confidence and self esteem in addition to decreasing incidence rates of anxiety.
  • Weight Management: Exercise is cause for the burning of calories, which is linked to weight loss and maintenance of healthy weight levels, decreasing the incidence of being overweight (both linked with increased risk for the development of impotence).
  • Promote Sleep: Exercise has been correlated with the ability to increase the overall ability of the body to obtain a good rest.
  • Combat Diseases: Regular exercise can aid in the maintenance of healthy cholesterol levels, decreasing the risk for the development of certain conditions, including atherosclerosis and diabetes (both also linked with increased risk for the development of erectile dysfunction.)
  • Strengthen Lungs and Heart: Regular exercise is cause for the strengthening of many systems of the body, including the heart and lungs. Exercise increases oxygen intake to the tissues and improves overall blood flow.
  • Fun: Exercise can serve to be a fun experience. Find ways to make exercise a fun part of your daily routine.
  • Sex Life: Finally, individuals that exercise regularly are associated with having overall better sex lives and have a decreased risk for the development of sexual dysfunctions, including impotence.

Impotence: How common is it?

Impotence, also known as erectile dysfunction, is becoming more prevalent and currently affects over 20 million Americans. Statistics have shown that by the age of 60 over half of all men will have had at least one incidence of impotence, and this number only increases with age.

The Daily Two Mile Walk and Impotence

Studies have shown that a daily walk of two miles can lead to an overall improvement in sexual health and can decrease the risk of the development of sexual dysfunctions. These studies have also shown that this same walk can actually decrease the incidence rates of erectile dysfunction.

However, these studies were linked to both the daily walk and changes in lifestyle and dietary habits. It is theorized that any physical activity that lasts for approximately 30 minutes nearly every day of the week, in conjunction with healthy lifestyle and dietary habits, can serve to improve overall sexually functioning.

After all, the saying for finding true love is usually about walking thousands of miles, to the ends of the Earth and back. However, the maintenance of a good sex life requires a much shorter walk, only miles per day, approximately thirty minutes of exercise per day.
