Due to the itchiness of lice, constant scratching and picking at the skin can cause the surrounding area to become raw, resulting in hives or abrasions. Not only does this help to spread the lice, it can also result in causing a secondary bacterial infection.

Four legged creatures named Spot and Fido are our best friends. They’re loyal, compassionate, and love us unconditionally. Best of all, they don’t feed on our blood. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the six legged creatures called Phthirus Pubis, more commonly known as pubic lice or “crabs”.

Imagine a six-legged creature, whitish gray or reddish brown, smaller than your pinky nail, and disguised as a miniature crab (when magnified) nesting in your pubic region. Itchy, pesky, unwelcome, and often with friends in tow, it sleepily rests on the hairs here, (or in some cases your armpit hair, beard, leg hair or eyebrows), and is seemingly in no hurry to leave.
