I have GERD and do not take the prescribed medication, as the potential side effects seem worse than the disease. I find that when I have flare ups, using Vitamin E capsules puts me back on track. Instead of just swallowing the capsules, I bite them and swallow the oil allowing it to coat my esophagus. It does not taste bad, and it is soothing.

I was told by my Nutritionist that eating raw almonds was a good natural antacid. I didn't believe it could work as well as "medicine", but I tried it several times and find that it works just as well and I get the benefits of nutrition.
